Apples were a very important crop in Pennsylvania and Hopewell Furnace has an heirloom Apple Orchard that is drooping with juicy apples this season.
Join the park naturalist on this hike from the campground contact station down to Hopewell Furnace. We will spend some time picking heirloom apples varieties and learning a little bit about their importance in the 18th and 19th centuries. Hopewell charges $1.00/pound so be sure to bring some cash for your pick your own treats. We will hike back uphill to the campground when we are done, so be sure you only pick what you can carry!
Hike will be canceled for storms.
